Rotary is a leadership organization of local business, professional and civic leaders. We
meet regularly, to get to know each other, form friendships, and through that, we are

Who is the Rotary Club of Reno Centennial Sunset?
The Rotary Club of Reno Centennial Sunset was chartered in the fall of 2004 with 43
charter members, 11 of whom are still active. Our club has since averaged around 35
members over the past few years. Our club is dedicated to serving youth, veterans and
the elderly in our community and around the world. We meet every Tuesday at Famous
Dave’s BBQ at 5pm. Come join us!
What do we do – where the money goes.
The money we raise through our various events go to a variety of local and international
causes including the following:
- We send 3 high school students per year to the Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards (RYLA) - We participate in the Truckee Meadows Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE)
program to sponsor 1 outbound exchange student and support 1 inbound
exchange student each year - We provide prizes for our club’s Music and Speech Contests
- International projects, such as a water tank for a remote village in Panama,
furniture for a school in Monterrey Mexico, and upgraded toilets and water
heaters for a school in Santiago, Chile. - We provide funds towards a college scholarship for graduating seniors in our
sponsored school - Additionally, we sponsor a variety of community service projects which in the
past have included:- Sending a 5th grade class from Smithridge Elementary to the
Challenger Learning Program - Providing painting and landscaping services for seniors in our
community - Providing mobility equipment for severely handicapped children at
Marvin Picollo school - Providing new mattresses to the Veteran’s Resource Center and
wreaths for the Veteran’s Cemetery for the Wreaths Across America
effort - Providing books for grieving children to the Solace Tree
- Sending a 5th grade class from Smithridge Elementary to the
